Focus: We investigate how alterations in lipid metabolism affect physiological processes and disease development. We are working on lipid-degrading enzymes (lipases) particularly in inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the central nervous system. Our interdisciplinary approach includes biochemical methods, molecular biology techniques, histological-, lipid-, and behavioral analyses. We also develop chemical tools to specifically modulate the activity of lipases and advance innovative therapeutic approaches.
Network: We collaborate closely with researchers from the Medical University of Graz (Dagmar Kratky, , Gerd Leitinger, ) as well as (Uni Graz), (TU Graz), (UMC Amsterdam), (TU Wien), (MedUni Wien), and (Uni Leiden).
