Works Council for General University Staff

The works council is an advocacy group that represents the general staff of the Medical University of Graz and is entitled to have a say in personnel and economic decisions.

Team

Responsibilities

The works council

  • is a service and information center for general university staff
  • negotiates works agreements
  • ensures compliance with collective agreements and works agreements
  • makes suggestions for improving working conditions and safety
  • is entitled to have a say in the arrangement of the workplace
  • is entitled to have a say in personnel and economic matters
  • has the right to comment on terminations and dismissals and to challenge them in a court of law
  • can prevent transfers (under certain circumstances)
  • must be informed about all matters affecting employees
