STEIRERIN Award: Vote now for the trailblazers at the Medical University of Graz

STEIRERIN is putting women in the spotlight: at the STEIRERIN AWARDS 2026, outstanding women from various disciplines will be presented and honoured. In the Human Technology & Medicine category, three female researchers from the Medical University of Graz have been nominated for the award.

from the Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences heads the OPINION (Open Innovation Nursing) Lab, which helps to shape care for the elderly in a way that is effective, humane and scientifically sound. Here, care is not only researched but also further developed in collaboration with those receiving care. Among other things, a freely accessible collection of non-pharmacological measures for pain reduction has been developed.

is the Head of the Division of Medical Psychology, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapeutic Medicine at the Department of Psychiatry at the Medical University of Graz. In addition to her responsibility for various specialist outpatient clinics, she is also making a significant contribution to the establishment of the inter-university Master’s programme in Psychotherapy.

heads the Violence Outpatient Clinic at the Medical University of Graz. In cases of physical and sexual violence, it is crucial to secure evidence early on, objectively and in a manner admissible in court. She links the criminal justice system, medical care and forensic, objective evidence collection, and is thus a vital piece of the puzzle.

heads the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the Medical University of Graz. Her research focuses on screening for type 1 diabetes and diabetes technology in paediatrics. Together with Lisa Renner (MOKI Stmk), she has established the “DiAb-Kids” project, which aims to provide professional support to children with type 1 diabetes and their families in their daily lives.
