Michael Kohlhauser wins the LEO AWARD 2026

A junior researcher from the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical University of Graz has been awarded the prestigious LEO AWARD by the Austrian Society for Hand Surgery.

At the 2026 Annual Conference of the Austrian Society for Hand Surgery, which took place in Linz from 13 to 14 March 2026, Michael Kohlhauser received the prize, worth 5,000 euros, for his scientific paper entitled:

The LEO AWARD serves to promote young scientists in the field of hand surgery and is one of the most prestigious awards in this field in Austria.

The award had already gone to the same clinical department in 2023: at that time, Raimund Winter was honoured for his publication ”.

The repeated awarding of the LEO AWARD underscores the high scientific quality and innovative strength of the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical University of Graz. The division is delighted to have received this award once again and sees it as confirmation of its consistent research work in the field of hand surgery.
