On 17 March 2026, the Graz Chamber Music Hall provided the setting for the ceremonial presentation of the Congress Award. With this prize, the City of Graz honours those individuals who position the city as an international beacon for science and conferences. Due to the excellent quality of the entries, two additional special recognition awards for outstanding innovation were presented this year, alongside the main prize of €10,000 and a sustainability prize of €5,000.
One such prize went to the International Student Congress (ISC) at the Medical University of Graz, which impressed the jury with its autonomous organisation by medical students and its global appeal. The initiative connects young talents in the health sciences with experienced experts at an early stage and brings around 170 international guests to Graz each year. This scientific exchange on an equal footing serves as an important career springboard into the global research world and underlines our university’s role within a forward-looking research hub.
The International Student Congress will also take place in 2026. From 3 to 6 June, those interested can take part in a varied programme of workshops, courses and keynote speeches – and, of course, there will be plenty of entertainment and networking opportunities too.
Med Uni Graz extends its warmest congratulations on this success!
